About this item

A 40 A Level 2 charger for J1772 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which covers every non-Tesla EV sold in North America and, with an adapter, Teslas too. INFGO excludes the Toyota Prius and RAV4; everything else plugs straight in. It hangs on a wall or travels in a car, because the supply end is a NEMA 14-50 plug rather than hard wiring, so any 14-50 outlet becomes a charging point.

At 240 V and 40 A the output is 9.6 kW, against roughly 1.4 kW from a household 120 V outlet. Current is selectable from 8 A to 40 A for circuits that cannot carry the full draw, and a delayed start of 0.5 to 12 hours moves charging to off-peak hours. The 2.4-inch LCD shows voltage, current and power while it runs. Certification is ETL, UL and ROHS, the enclosure is IP66, and CCID20 leakage protection is built in, so no separate GFCI breaker is required.

Key Features

  • Universal Compatibility: The INFGO level 2 ev charger works with all J1772 EVs and PHEVs; also works with Tesla (Note: Tesla requires a J1772 to NACS adapter, not packed). Regardless of your vehicle type, simply plug it in and start charging.
  • Fast 40A Level 2 EV Charger: Portable and plug-and-play with a NEMA 14-50 Plug, 40Amp current, providing a maximum charging power of 9.6kWh. Infgo J1772 Charger compared to standard Level 1 chargers, charging speeds are approximately 8 times faster, significantly reducing waiting time.
  • Adjustable Current & Delay Time: The EV charger Level 2 supports adjustable currents (8A/12A/16A/20A/24A/32A/40A). Simply tap the "A" button to select the optimal charging speed. also features a delayed start charging function (with a delay of 0.5 to 12 h). It can be set to automatically charge during low-cost periods, effectively saving electricity costs.
  • LCD Display & Indicator:40Amp home ev charger features a 2.4-inch LCD display that provides clear, real-time charging information, including voltage, current, and power. A unique breathing indicator provides intuitive charging status. Could giving you peace of mind and ensuring your vehicle is charging safely and efficiently.
  • Safety & Reliability: The INFGO EV charger is ETL/UL/ROHS certified, with multi-protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and leakage. Features IP66 waterproof rating and operates from -44°F to +122°F, suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Built-in CCID20 leakage protection eliminates the need for an extra GFCI breaker.
  • Note: Please follow the instructions - Step 1: Plug the charger into P14-50 outlet. Step 2: Press the "A" button to adjust the current to 40 amps. Step 3: Plug the charger into your car to begin charging. The green light will appear after plugging it into your car. (If the charger is connected to the car's charging port first, the buttons will not work)

Charging speed by current setting

Power is volts x amps. Range added per hour is that power multiplied by how far a car travels on a kilowatt-hour, which for most EVs is 2.3 to 3.5 miles. That band is not our invention: it is the one that reproduces INFGO's own published figures of 9 to 13 miles per hour at 3.84 kW and 3 to 5 at 1.44 kW. A heavy, inefficient EV sits at the bottom of each range and a small efficient one at the top.

Current settingVoltagePowerRange added per hour
8 A240 V1.92 kW4 to 7 miles
12 A240 V2.88 kW7 to 10 miles
16 A240 V3.84 kW9 to 13 miles
20 A240 V4.80 kW11 to 17 miles
24 A240 V5.76 kW13 to 20 miles
32 A240 V7.68 kW18 to 27 miles
40 A240 V9.60 kW22 to 34 miles

At its 9.60 kW maximum this charger adds roughly 22 to 34 miles of range an hour. A standard 120 V household outlet delivers about 1.4 kW, or 3 to 5 miles an hour.

Outlet, breaker and cable requirements

This charger plugs into a NEMA 14-50 outlet, and INFGO specifies a 50 A breaker with 8 AWG cable for the full 40 A setting. The table extends that to the lower settings using the same rule the manufacturer followed: an EV charger is a continuous load, so the circuit is rated at 125% of the draw. Lower settings exist for circuits that cannot carry the full current.

Continuous drawMinimum circuit (125%)BreakerCopper conductor
8 A10 A15 A14 AWG
12 A15 A15 A14 AWG
16 A20 A20 A12 AWG
20 A25 A25 A10 AWG
24 A30 A30 A10 AWG
32 A40 A40 A8 AWG
40 A50 A50 A8 AWG

Conductor sizes are the common copper values for these breaker ratings. They are a sanity check, not a wiring plan: circuit length, insulation temperature rating and local amendments all change the answer. Have any new circuit installed by a licensed electrician to your local code.
